Gathering Associated Gases Nears Completion

Gathering associated gases project at Kharg oil fields is nearing completion by ending offshore operations of the project, the National Iranian Offshore Oil Company (NIOOC) managing director said.

Speaking to Shana, NIOOC’s managing director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said by completion offshore operations of the project, 16 million cubic feet of sweet gas produced at Soroush and Norouz oil fields will be transferred to Kharg Island through a 200 kilometers pipeline.
‘The project which aims at gathering 600 million cubic feet of associated gases from the oil fields located in the area is nearing completion’, the official said.
Zirakchianzadeh added that part of the gases would be used as feedstock for petrochemical units in the form of ethane and another part will be used for delivering gas to Kharg Island as dry gas to boost generating electricity.

In addition to preventing flaring gas at oil fields in the Persian Gulf the project aims at processing gas and production of valuable products including methane, ethane, butane, and pentane and gas liquids for exports.
