Offshore Iranian gas field output on upward curve

Gas production from the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf has reached a new peak of 290 MMcm/d (10 bcf/d).

Mousa Souri, managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Co., told Iranian news service Shana that the main factors were maximized output from South Pars phases 6-8; completion of 23 gas wells at phases 9 and 10; and rising production from Phase 1.

Overall output should climb to 350 MMcm/d (12.36 bcf/d) over the next 12 months, he added, potentially building to 454 MMcm/d (16 bf/d) once current development phases 12, 15-16, and 17-18 are onstream.

Later this year, Iran expects to start up three processing plants at the onshore complex in Assaluyeh to handle supplies from South Pars.
